Tamper resistant receptacles,15 and 20 ampere receptacles must be installed on specified areas covering such receptacles in kitchens, family rooms, dining rooms, living rooms, parlors, libraries, dens, sunrooms, bedrooms, recreation rooms, or similar rooms or areas unit of dwelling etc.

Tamper resistant receptacles are expected to reduce the number of injuries that t result when someone inserts a foreign object into receptacles on a residential occupancy.
While this is the expected result some people within the building industry that maintain that requiring these kinds of receptacles will increase the cost of a residence just when prices are declining and home sales are down.
Furthermore there is concern that physically impaired individual will have difficulties tiring to insert appliance cord into this kind of receptacles.
It is not uncommon that changes are resisted; however this kind of change should be welcome among electricians and end users of receptacles for the additional safety measures.
